The biggest surprises of the day at men's side was Rio 2016 silver medalists Italian Lupo-Nicolai and Rio 2016 bronze medalists Brouwer-Meeuwson of Netherlands are eliminated at round of 32.

Canadians Pedlow - Schahcter won a close game by 2-0 (21-19, 21-19) against Itaian Lupo-Nicolai.

Belgium guys Koekelkoren - Van Walle served really well at tie-break and took the game by 2-1 (17-21, 22-20, 15-8) against Brouwer-Meeuwson.

Experienced Spanish team Herrera-Gavira move to the round of 16 by winning over Fijalek-Bryl of Poland 2-0 (21-19, 21-19)
